How to make a table of contents in Word step by step
1. Insert abstract
- Select the chapter titles and apply the style "Heading 1" to the "Home" tab. Do the same with subtitles, if any.
- After setting up all the headings and subheadings for your paper, place the text cursor in the desired location for the table of contents. Once done, go to the tab “References”, select “table of contents” and add an automatic summary.
2. Automate summary
- El abstract title must be on Capital letters, centered, bold and use Arial or Times New Roman font, size 14, with 1,5 spacing.
- El table content of content must be in Arial font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. The other formats are automatically imported from the titles of your work. Therefore, it must be formatted in ABNT standards.
3. Update summary
- Later, if you've added a new topic to your paper or changed a title, just check the option “Update Summary…” tab "References".
- Select if you want to update page number only or full table of contents, which includes new entries, update existing titles and page number. Finally press "To accept".
