After nearly six years of waiting, Genshin Impact players will finally be able to set foot in Snezhnaya, the seventh and final of the great nations of Teyvat. Update 7.0, dubbed as
HoYoverse has confirmed that the region will be ruled by the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon , and will be home to the Fatui, the faction that has been pulling the strings since the beginning of the story. The main plot of this version will revolve around a catastrophic blizzard and an energy crisis that pits different factions against each other within Snezhnaya, and completing the new Archon quest will reward up to 560 Primogems.
Snezhnaya: the seventh nation of Teyvat
The new region is located in the far north of Teyvat and is characterized by relentless cold, constant blizzards, and a railway network connecting its scattered settlements. Players will arrive by train in Snezhnograd , the capital, where the Fatui headquarters is located and their technological and military might is on full display. Outside the city lie frozen plains inhabited by ancient beasts, villages protected by Jack Frost, and areas where survival is as important as combat.
To move around this vast territory, the game introduces the Snezhnaya Adventurer's Journal , an interface that allows you to record your exploration progress, quickly access destinations, and claim rewards without having to wander around the map.
New mechanics: Eye of the Graeae and shooting mode
Upon reaching Snezhnaya, players will obtain the Eye of the Graeae , a multifunctional tool that protects against extreme cold, allows them to summon trains, create ice structures to solve puzzles, and, most notably, unlocks a third-person shooting mode. There are three different firearms with attachments scattered throughout the region, and the combat environments change depending on the level, offering an experience that goes beyond simply pointing and shooting.
In the elemental combat section, version 7.0 adds the Star Whirlwind reaction , which is activated by combining Anemo and Cryo. It generates a vortex that deals damage of both elements, and if activated multiple times before it explodes, its power increases. Additionally, outside of combat, it allows for significantly higher jumps, facilitating exploration. The Traveler can also obtain the Cryo element by touching the Statues of the Seven of Snezhnaya.
Characters and gachapon
Two new characters join the roster. Odette is a five-star Cryo swordswoman, a member of the Fatui trained by La Signora. By day, she's a renowned ballet dancer; by night, an assassin. Her elemental ability summons a double that deals Cryo damage in an area and boosts the team's Starflare reactions. Alyosha is a four-star Electro lancer, a hunter from Snezhnaya who fights alongside his dog, Tugarin. He provides healing and damage bonuses and can be obtained for free by progressing through the new Archon quest.
The promotional wishes are divided into two phases. In the first, Odette and Alyosha share a banner with the return of Arlecchino. In the second, Flins and Ineffa return. Furthermore, the gacha system remains the same, with the usual currency and rates.
Events and rewards
The update includes a limited-time event featuring train races across the frozen plains, shooting competitions, mastery challenges, and missions to help the Jack Frosts. Completing all activities allows you to invite Diona to the team at no cost. A summer-themed event in Eden Miliastra has also been announced, featuring spooky stories and an exclusive head accessory as a reward.
Genshin Impact 7.0 will be available on August 12th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android, and iOS, with cross-platform progress synchronized. The arrival of Snezhnaya was one of the game's long-awaited features since its launch, and with all these new additions, the wait seems to have finally been worthwhile.
