Free WiFi app
You don't have a lot of Giga available and for this reason would you like to "download" and use nearby free wireless networks, so that you can use them instead of connecting to Internet from your mobile phone? If so, you can use one of the application Free WIFI that I am going to tell you next.
WiFi map (Android / iOS-iPadOS)
The first application in this category is WiFi map : available for Android and iOS / iPadOS, allows you to locate free (but also password-protected) wireless networks available around the world. Thanks to feedback from users, who continuously report the provision of new access points and new passwords (or the removal of those that are no longer available), the file of available Wi-Fi networks is constantly updated.
Using the app is very simple: after installing and starting it, tap the button I agree, To accept the terms of use, touch the button siguiente twice in a row and enable location services, Responding affirmatively to the messages that are proposed.
Then touch the X located at the top right, to "decline" the offer to activate the Pro version and wait for the map to load on the screen. Now to see all nearby networks, tap on the item (X WiFis near me) and select the network of your interest from the proposed list, to see its details.
If the hostpot must be password protected, tap the button Unlock password and close the ad below to see the password in clear text.

Not everyone knows it, but also the application of Facebook for Android and iOS / iPadOS allows you to locate nearby free access points. Doing it is very simple: after launching the application and logging in, if necessary, tap the button located in the upper right corner and select the items more y Find Wi-Fi from the menu shown on the screen.

If all went well, Facebook should offer you a list of public access points available nearby; Plus, with every move, you'll receive notifications from nearby publicly accessible wireless networks.
In case of doubt, you can revoke access permissions to the position from the Facebook application, at any time: to do so, after starting the application, touch the button located in the upper right corner, touch the elements adjustments y location, then in the options Access to location y Location services and, using the menu of the operating system, revoke the access permissions to the application (in Android, for example, you must touch the item App permissions and move on OFF the voice stick geolocation ).
Secure WiFi apps
Using public Wi-Fi can be quite risky, especially since, in most cases, you have no idea who can manage it, therefore data theft may actually be just around the corner. However, you can easily protect your data using an application to VPNIn other words, a system capable of making data in transit to and from the device completely "invisible" from the outside. Here are some of them.
NordVPN (Android / iOS / iPadOS)
One of the first apps that I recommend you consider to make browsing under Wi-Fi secure is NordVPN - This is the official app of the VPN service of the same name, available for both Android and iOS / iPadOS (as well as PCs, smart TVs with Android TV, NAS, Raspberry Pi, routers and other devices).
Thanks to its super secure encryption, NordVPN allows you to browse with maximum privacy on any network, including public Wi-Fi. The browsing data, in fact, is encrypted using a very powerful algorithm and is inaccessible not only to any malicious person and ISP, but also to NordVPN, which does not record anything of the activities carried out by users.
Another point in favor of NordVPN is the wide range of servers available, all fast and stable, located in all corners of the world: this allows you to overcome any type of regional restriction and access foreign catalogs of streaming services. In addition, there are servers specifically dedicated to exchanging files on P2P networks (for example, BitTorrent) and browsing through the Onion protocol (the one used by the anonymous Tor browsing system).
NordVPN offers several plans: the most convenient is the 3 years from 3,17 euros / month (billed annually), but there are also those of 2 years (4,54 euros / month, billed annually), 1 year (6,36 euros / month, billed annually) e 1 month (10,87 euros). All solutions provide the use of NordVPN on all compatible devices, up to a maximum of 6 at the same time, the 30-day money back guarantee and may also include additional items such as the password manager North Pass (worth $ 194.61).
That being said, if you want to download the app from NordVPN on your mobile phone or tablet, open the store of your device (for example, Play Store on Android or App Store on iOS / iPadOS), search NordVPN inside the latter and first touch the application icon and then on the button Install / Get. En iPhone / iPad, you may be asked to verify your identity via Face ID, Touch ID, or Apple ID password.
Once the download is complete, start the NordVPN application and press the button REGISTER, to create your account and subscribe to one of the available plans, or on the button LOG IN, to access your NordVPN account (if you already have one).
Once you are logged in, press the button FAST CONNECTION, to automatically connect to the fastest VPN server, or scroll through the list of available servers (below) and choose the one to connect to. If you want, you can also directly search for a server by pressing the item Search and browse Specialized Servers dedicated to P2P and other specific activities. You can also create lists of favorite servers. On iOS / iPadOS, at the first connection, you will need to confirm the installation of the NordVPN VPN profile on the system.
Once the connection to the VPN server of interest has been established, all you have to do is open your browser (or any other application that provides an Internet connection) and use it normally, knowing that your browsing will be protected from prying eyes. At the end of the session, to disconnect from the VPN, open the NordVPN and press the button disconnect.

On iOS / iPadOS, you will also need to confirm the installation of the VPN profile in the operating system settings.
If you want to change your IP address with an address that belongs to the countries available in Tunnelbear, touch tube located in the country of your interest, on the map, and touch the button yes attached to the proposed panel.
Alternatively, you can achieve the same result by tapping on the dropdown menu automatic, Located at the bottom of the Tunnelbear screen, and then selecting the new «Country of departure» from the list that is proposed. All very simple, don't you think?
Other apps for WiFi protected
In addition to TunnelBear, there are several others secure WiFi apps that allow, through the use of VPN technology, to prevent someone, from the outside, from "looking" at the data in transit to and from the mobile phone or tablet. Here are some of them.
- Avira Phantom VPN (Android / IOS / iPadOS) - is the VPN service made available by the manufacturer of the famous antivirus for PC. It offers 500MB of free traffic per month, a limit that can be removed by subscribing to a paid Pro subscription. I told you in detail in this guide.
- VyprVPN (Android / IOS / iPadOS): The service available for a while not only allows you to choose the server to connect to, but also automatically select the fastest one. The app can be tried for free for 3 days, after which to proceed you need to sign up for a paid subscription.
- CyberGhost (Android / IOS / iPadOS) - another excellent VPN, which has quite fast servers located all over the world and which guarantees the total anonymity of the information in transit, promising not to save it anywhere. The service can be tried for free for 7 days, after which it is necessary to subscribe to a subscription plan.

To do this, go to the menu Settings> Wi-Fi MIUI, play name of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to (must be marked with wording Tap to share the password) and then scan the QR code obtained with an application dedicated to scan QR codes.

However, if you have a Mac combined with the same Apple ID used on your "iPhone" or iPad, you can use Keychain Access macOS, the application that allows you to see all the access data saved on the Apple brand devices in use, as long as they are synchronized with the same iCloud account.
